The main objectives of the Cuba Solar project were the joint development of a large demonstration plant for solar cooling and hot water preparation for a hospital in Cuba by the Austrian and the Cuban Partners, and the building of a sustainable cooperation between the two countries by Austrian technology and know-how transfer and joint R&D activities.
Standardized technical and organisational solutions were elaborated jointly and can serve as a basis for further research and development tasks. These results also highlight necessary innovation steps for the implementation phase.
Within the project, the Energy Institute for Businesses carried out the risk analysis, the economic viability analysis, the screening of financing opportunities and the information transfer and dissemination.
Cuba Solar was co-financed by Österreichische Froschungsförderungsgesellschaft (FFG) in the framework of the "Beyond Europe" programme.
